We are back on the Greens!

The season has started and below is the temporary arrangements during the easing of the Lockdown. So come along and enjoy this wonderful game.

Government guidance released on 13th May 2020 states: “You can play lawn bowls where facilities have reopened, but you can only take part in these activities by yourself, or with members of our household or with one person outside of your household, as long as you are able to maintain social distancing.

 Play arrangements

As the guidance states we are only allowed to use alternate rinks playing singles but as we are lucky enough to have two greens this means 12 players permitted on the greens at any one time, although 3 members from the same household would be allowed to play on one rink.  At all times social distancing of 2 metres should be maintained from other bowlers who are not part of your household.

Full details of all the arrangements are at the bottom of the page

The Club was established in 1926  and situated in the lovely surroundings of the Old Court House Recreation Ground a park located just off Wood Street in High Barnet. The Club is the ideal venue for members and visitors to enjoy a game of lawn bowls in the friendly atmosphere of the Club.

There are two bowling greens, with a total of ten rinks.

Social and competitive games of bowls are readily available or just participate in our regular rollups. See this website for operating hours and events and a wealth of other information about the Club.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Very Successful Bowls Season

Although a relatively small club we  punched above our weight last season. Winning the Day Cup and finishing second in the Prentice Cup (lost by just two points). We pride ourself on being a very friendly club containing players of widely varying skills. We think our success in competitions over the last couple of years is directly related to the very relaxed atmosphere in the club which helps members perform at their very best in competitions.

Playing Arrangements during Covid-19 Crisis

Play arrangements

As the guidance states we are only allowed to use alternate rinks playing singles but as we are lucky enough to have two greens this means 12 players permitted on the greens at any one time, although 3 members from the same household would be allowed to play on one rink.  At all times social distancing of 2 metres should be maintained from other bowlers who are not part of your household.

The gate at the bottom of the steps giving access to the greens is now secured by a coded padlock the number for which is 1926.

Clubhouse

The clubhouse will remain closed except for access to toilets and washing facilities.  Initially members whose bowls, shoes, etc are currently in the clubhouse will be allowed access to retrieve them, but thereafter these should remain with you and be transported between your home and the greens and you should change your shoes in your car.

Equipment

Other than your own bowls the only equipment allowed on the greens are mats and jacks, no bowls pushers, scoreboards, etc.  Please ensure you clean and sanitise the mats and jacks before and after use (no bleach please).  We do not yet have a supply of sanitizer at the club, which as you know is in short supply, so please bring your own.
